Incredibly awful experience dealing with what turned out to be a senior staffing member - reported to be the expert in vehicle registrations.
In terms of background, I relocated to the US and needed to cancel my Alberta vehicle registration. When I first spoke with their manager, she informed me the submission rules had recently changed and that she wasn't sure what the new format was. I was given the AB government number directly to get the submission instructions myself.
The government in turn advised the process was actually simplified and that I need only fax or mail in a letter outlining my request as well as a few other identifying details and proof of identification.
When I again contacted the manager to inquire about faxing and paying via credit card, I received confusing and contradictory information. She spoke at length of privacy violations, the need for me to print off additional forms, possibly have to have these forms notarized, and that I would need to submit all information via regular mail. When asked about the very large gap in instructions which were provided by the AB Govt vis-a-vis those provided by the manager, she became very short with me and conveyed a sense of frustration. She abruptly told me to "send in the letter" and then disconnected the call, without telling me how to do so. After redialing, she then accused me of hanging up on her. I had had enough at this point and asked to speak to her superior which was rejected. Instead, I was told to phone the government and complain to them.
